Blackcabbit's World

Blackcabbit (aka. Dionnie Takahashi) is an illustrator living in Japan. She loves drawing whimsical animal characters, as well as doing handmade crafts to beautify the world she lives in.

Commissioned Artworks for Creaminal Treats

For the past two months, I have been burning midnight oil, especially after the kids slept. I was commissioned to illustrate 8 characters for my sister’s cafe, which I digitally painted. The cupcake restaurant will be opening in Hong Kong tomorrow. Creaminal Treats FlyerIf you’re in the vicinity, please drop by and say hello to the gang at Creaminal Treats.

They’re so good, They must be evil!

The Monster (aka. Cookie & Cream cupcake) sure got something to hide!

Ms. Pink

Ms. Pink has a sweet innocent front but don’t be deceived.
The strawberry with whipped cream cupcake is cunning and manipulative.
Her weapon of choice is sweet revenge with a cutting edge.

Creaminal Treats

The Italian is the Godfather of a vicious mafia gang. The tiramisu cupcake with
cream cheese frosting, is completely feared by every cupcake!

Creaminal Treats

The Associate, being the lowest rank among the cupcake gangsters,
helps The Italian to dispose dead pastries. The mocha cupcake with whipped cream
frosting occasionally has the thrill of burying other cupcakes alive.

Creaminal Treats RV

Mr. RV, the red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting has explosive strength.
Don’t mess with the smiley cupcake.

Creaminal treats

Ms. Karma is a Diva of all cupcakes! You will be sorry if you defy
a caramel cupcake with whipped cream!

Creaminal Treats

Dr. Black kills and dissects with a scalpel. The chocolate cupcake with choc ganache frosting is obsessed with Ms. White, and will do anything to please her.

Blackcabbit digital painting

Ms. White, the vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting, doesn’t let anything get in her way.

Okay time to take a break and have a cupcake!

Thank you so much for your support, my dearest and sweetest husband. Thanks for helping to taking care of the kids after a hard day’s work, and even when you are not well. Love you so much!

Gamxia gamxia (Thank you!) You make my day!

I used a low-end wacom drawing tablet and Corel Painter old version software. U can read more about it here – https://blackcabbit.wordpress.com/2011/08/03/digital-painting/

Though I do it digitally, I pretty much execute the work like that of traditional style: sketching in pencil mode > Then adding colors layer by layer using acrylic brush mode. The few downsides i have with digital execution, is that it WILL take a long TIME to get used the software, and i have a tendency to want to turn my drawing tablet like that of a paper/canvas. LOL

Here are some pictures of how I doodle > sketch > then color. Not a lot. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.451250791629767.1073741826.119428844811965&type=3
Maybe I’ll share my methods in details in future blog posts. I will let you know! ^_^Y
