Blackcabbit's World

Bit by bit, the Blackcabbit crafts its nest of DIY handmade art and illustrates a kingdom of doodle critters to beautify the world she lives in.

Teaching Shapes

I had a lot of fun teaching my students shapes. I thought I share with you my methods. I had some light extra-pliablie white clay (Padico Hearty Soft) lying around. So I made all the shapes that I was planning to teach and imprinted facial impressions on them. I let them dry out completely for a couple of days before adding colors with oil markers.teaching shapes

I put all the shapes into a no-see-through bag (that was also lying around). Using the flashcards that I was teaching with, I placed a random card on the whiteboard and ask the kids to pick the same shape from the bag. They must be able to say the shape they picked. The expressions on the students when they tried to feel around shapes were so adorable. They really had a lot of fun.shapes color

You probably guess that I plan to re-use the same shapes to teach emotions and colors as well. ^_^Y
